Exploring a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have encountered a variety of entertaining creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a protagonist that is actually a dung striving to make its way to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
The gameplay is simple: just use a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty challenges, encounter mini-bosses and access a market to acquire customizations for your fecal avatar.
Execute your jumps precisely, since one mistake means beginning again. Jump off air pockets to launch yourself upward, navigate crumbling platforms, and touch switches to open secret routes. Gather UN-KOINS for buying more difficult stages as things gets crazy.
Graphically, the demo shows off neon environments and catchy music score. The retro art with moving abstract forms could recall players of beloved games like Earthbound.
Even though hard to recall similar titles where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often included toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. And of course, this theme is present heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on PC this November.
