Shocking Footage Shows Point Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
One senior officer who jumped to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knife attacker received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a road collision in that location in July 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.
"Policeman attacked," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera recording released by the police department depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon pointed forward.
He ran into the officer who lost balance and went down to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement despite being continually attacked with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a clear shot, concluding the fight to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get assistance on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell sustained two open wounds to his throat and further injuries to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his colleague's hemorrhaging before emergency responders came.
This most recent honor comes subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted departmental Courage Honors in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional officer association in spring 2024.
They additionally received a Regional Valor Recognition in July 2024.
"The efforts of each policeman ultimately saved each other and resulted in no civilians endured any injuries."
Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, per the department.
