The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
